GCMS Case Notes - How soon should one make next request??

Hi all,

Could you please share your opinion on these for GCMS note (Access to Information & Privacy - ATI &P)

1. I know that one could make as many and as frequent applications for ATI and P. However if one wants more quicker information on changes to his application, Per your experience how soon one should make next request.....30 days after the preceding request or 2-3 weeks after?

2. Will making requests before 30 days will result into response to only the new one and not the old one.

3. What different information is got by applying for Option - Access to Information, compared to when you choose the option - Privacy?

Well only one Q what you want to achieve by Ordering GCMS so frequently (I mean at interval of 15-20 days). OR this you are asking just to improve your GK?
I Will suggest give some gap so that you can conclude in terms of progress of application
Rest is up to you

It is better to check ECAS for latest status.

2. Will making requests before 30 days will result into response to only the new one and not the old one.

All overlapping applications will be discarded.


Please don't request GCMS notes UNLESS YOU NEED THEM. CIC is busy enough for you to give them more work just for fun.

Its better to order in like min 45 days as far as my personal experience is concerned . GCMS ordering frequently will anyways will not help you know the updates .

Give it few more days, then reach out to ATIP via email.

leaving the day of application, from the first working day from application - On 31st (better on 32nd) calendar day (if it is a holiday at ends, you allow one or two days more) you could write to ATIP-CIC providing the request number.

Exactly days are counted as per the link: Subsection 27(5) of the Interpretation Act.
