Future Delay in citizenship application?

Hi Guys. I was calling today CIC to check few things. They were mentioning they are in shortage of staff because what is happening in Afghanistan. Do you think what is happening in Afghanistan could delay our applications significantly ? I am worried about this. I have been waiting for 1 year and 6 month. Of course it is sad what is happening in Afghanistan though.

I believe Canada is bringing in refugees from Afghanistan and some of the IRCC human resource is being used to process those refugee applications. That is what they might have meant when they said there are "delays" because of this.

Although there might have been a reallocation of resources to this program, NOT all resources (officers) are trained or have the expertise to process refugee/humanitarian applications. This program (Afghan refugees) require senior officers to process them due to the sensitivity and timing of their applications. Therefore, I don’t expect significant delays specifically to Citizenship applications.
