Hello all.

I have submitted my application and I'm now wondering if I'm likely to be asked for more information relating to my Crohn's disease, which I of course declared in the application and medical exam.

The disease was active between 2008-2010, and following surgery in 2010 I have been in remission, and medication free since 2014. However, as I've had surgery, I imagine they will request further clarification from my specialist relating to treatment, disease history, and prognosis.

Has anyone else been in, or is currently in, the same situation? I've requested a letter from my specialist and have given him points on what to include. I'd just like to be prepared as to what to expect from immigration. And how many days they are likely to give me to fulfill the request.

Many thanks.

Yes, had my medical and disclosed my condition. Also disclosed it on my application. Now wondering whether I'll be asked to provide further details.

Nobody can answer that for sure, I guess that's you didn't get any reply.
It's really up to the reviewing Health Canada physician.
But all in all, as long as it's a condition that doesn't render you inadmissible to Canada (i.e pose health risk and/or heavy burden on healthcare), you have nothing to worry about, even if happen to ask for additional exams.

Hello,

Any updates on this? Thanks!

Nothing yet! Waiting nervously. Are you in a similar situation?

Sort of. Just got diagnosed with mild Crohn's disease. Still not in remission but worried about the cost of my treatment afterward because I plan on applying to PR within the next two years. I'm just looking at people's experiences with it. Please let me know once you hear something. I wish you all the best!

It's hard to say as they've recently increased the annual cost of treatment allowance, and one day hope to abolish the whole system of rejecting people on medical grounds...or so I read.

I've never received expensive treatment for my condition but I have had surgery, so I'm really not sure what to expect. I'll post updates, as I've found it really difficult to connect with anyone in a similar situation.

Thank you! I hope you're feeling better soon.

I don't think my Crohn's affected my application as I've been in remission for 9 years and medication free for 5.
