hey guys,

Is there a required amound of funds you need to show in your bank account for CEC application?
Why would they ask for bank statements for a year??

Hi Dinel,

I have gone through the CIC website for CEC a number of times and I did not find any call out whatsoever to declare money available on hand or any requirement on minimum eligibility amount. I think this is one of the verification steps that CIC officer is taking to finally grant you PR. Is your PR application in final stage? Either they want to make sure you have enough money to survive till you find a job or they juts want to verify your income based on your NOC code. In any case you'll have to furnish it so it's better you show some accumulated balance to cover all the possibilities.

If you were out of Canada during your employment, bank statement would be a helpful tool for them to know if were on paid or unpaid leave. This inturn tells if you meet the 2 yrs or hours eligibility criteria.

Cheers!

what if i cashed some of my cheques?
would i need to show proof of that? like a cashed receipt or something?

I think they are looking for additional proof of employment. Even if you cashed some of the cheques, when they add it up it should still be within a reasonable amount to that on the T4 and NOA.

It could be one of three things. First, as an economic class applicant, you are lumped with FSW applicants, most of whom DO have to show proof of funds - it could simply be a generic letter.

OR, it could be as SenoritaBella suggests - additional proof of employment.

Worst case, they suspect something is not on the level. For example, someone on here talked about having an "employer" report wages to the CRA (he paid the taxes out of his own pocket), even tho he was not actually working or being paid at that time period. That's fraud, and it happens.

In any case, you need to bring what they ask for.

www .cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp remove space after wwwfor CEC and FSW You do not have to show that you have these funds if you have arranged employment in Canada.

this is way beyond the application requirements. The OP has been called for an interview, and requested to bring bank statements. (This is different than requesting proof of funds, meaning you have to show a specific amount of funds in the bank).

CEC does not require proof of funds. But if you are called for an interview and asked to bring bank statements, you bring the bank statements.
