Funds available for stay on visitor and study forms

In the section called details of intended stay in Canada it asks about funds available for stay. How should I fill this out? I was planning on including a letter from my husband and his pay stubs but what specific dollar amount would make sense there? Thank you!!

When I applied for my visitor extension I put my partner's monthly take home pay for each month I was requesting to stay. So I asked for 12 months, I put his take home pay for a year. I was advised to do that from a member on the forum. It made sense to me.
We don't of course have that amount of money in a bank account, but it's what we live on and he is financially responsible for me. I also sent in 3-4 pay stubs and a letter from his employer. I also sent in a copy of his Option C just for good measure. Hehee
