I have applied for immigration but I donot have enough liquid funds to show (ie about CAD$25000 -family of Five) but I do have property worth CAD$ 200,000.should I sell the property to show the required money or the property papers will suffice. Can I take personal loan or loan against property to show the desired funds. please advise

Dear at9459
You have to prove that the money is yours, not borrowed.

CIC do not accept property (land/house etc.) as proof of fund. Pls. see the link

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

It is clearly stated that Funds could be in the form of:

* cash
* securities in bearer form (for example, stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills) or
* negotiable instruments in bearer form (for example, bankers' drafts, cheques, travellers' cheques or money orders).

What about your status ?

Good luck.
