Hello friends,
I'm already a permanent resident working in Canada and planning to apply for my wife's express entry (as it is faster compared to sponsorship) and I would like to know - if for funding requirement, should we show money in her individual bank account or joint account would be better? We both are in Canada currently and she is here on closed work permit.

Any account with her name on it would work.

Thanks. +1 for you. Should I also show my earnings and bank statements and salary slips as additional documents?

If she is applying as a single applicant (married to you of course but with no other dependents), the requirement is to showcase unencumbered funds to the tune of $ 12,164. Any funds more than this (belonging to you or her or both) make no difference to the application.

Thanks again. +1

Thanks for your help Asivad Anac. But I'm confused in the following two options -

- Should I open a joint account with my wife and put money in it along with my regular salary?
- Or Should I open a separate account for her and put money into her account saying it is a gift from me and I don't expect it back from her?

Her situation is like this - She doesn't work in Canada and doesn't have any funds. I have around 12K funds in my account and flow of regular salary.

Any help or suggestions will be helpful!! Thanks in advance!!

Either of those would work. All she needs to establish is that she has exclusive access to the required funds and that they are unencumbered.

IRCC doesn't ask for the donor's source of funds. If you're gifting her the money, she wouldn't need to provide anything other than a signed self-declaration from your end and proof of fund transfer in addition to a letter from her bank complete with all details as required by IRCC.
