Hi,

I hope someone out there can help me. I am in the process of collecting my documents to apply for the FSWP to Canada in May 2014. I am going through the document checklist and 2 documents I need some help with.

Item 12. Work Experience.
It says, letter of references from all your employers from the past 10 years.
Q.1. Is this employer reference referring to Human Resource only?
Q.2. Could i get references from the line Manager, Director, Project Leader?
Q.3. If I can use a manager reference is it possible to use an ex-manager who has now left the company? If so, which company letterhead would that reference be on? His ex-company (my company) or the place where he works now?
Q.4. Is there a limit to how many references you can submit for one position?

Item 16. Identity and Civil statues documents.
It requests for birth certificate and legal documents showing name or date of birth changes (if applicable).
I had my name changed over 20 years, all my legal documents uses my current name. I unfortunately no longer have the legal document to proof the change.
Q.1. What sort of document will the CIC accept? Is a affidavit good enough?

I have looked everywhere online, but with no luck. CIC website does not help and they have made it hard to contact them. So your help would be great.

Thanks.

Q1. It ıs not necessary ıts from HR but you can do a cover letter for ıt explaınıng why ıts not from HR, maybe that HR wıll not ıssue ıt or that you do not want the company to offıcıall know about your applıcatıon probably because of the job securıty
Q2. You can use your lıne manager etc as far as you have worked dırectly wıth/under hım and he can adequately comment and vouch for you, put ın mınd that your VO may verıfy your claım.
Q3. I thınk you reference wıll have to come from your present company manager sınce he wıll be the 'on seat' when your VO comes for verıfıcatıon (dependıng on your VO)
Q4. There ıs no lımıt dependıng on how many places you have worked ın the past ten years. Remember there should be no gap ın your employment hıstory that shouldn't be accounted for
Identıty Status
Q1. Do you mean bırth cert or marrıage cert? In eıther case, there's no problem.Just go to a magıstrate court ın your country and swear to an affıdavıt (thats what ıts called ın my country) statıng that you were born so and so tıme to so and so parents ( use theır full names) and that the orıgınal bırth cert ıs lost or that you got marrıed to so and so on so and so ın the presence of --- at ---. All these may not be representatıve of the content but I guess they do such ın the courts and shoukd have a format they use. Also check CIC sıte for further detaıls on how to go about ıt.
It ıs well!

Thanks for your reply Ty.

Further points to your replies...

1+2. Glad its not just HR and can include the line managers. One per job?
3. Assuming you have never changed jobs in 10 yrs therefore one manager, one reference. I have changed jobs 3 time working for the same company. My first line manager no longer works in the company, who do I get the reference from?
3.1 Also, is it references related to the NOC I will be applying for only?
3.2 Can I pick which VO to use? I have heard the UK London VO has a massive backlog.
4. Many references are good.

1. So a affidavit will work. That's great. But does it have to be with a court? I think we use solicitors / lawyers here.

Thanks.

but as per CIC, there will be no FSW 2014.
They will be starting a new EOI system in Q1-2015.

So far there is nothing official. It is known that in Q1 2015 the new EOI starts and that the current caps expire in April 2014... However, nobody knows what will happen afterwards.

I am in the same boat, waiting for new caps in May 2014.

Oh no! I hope not.

So have you got your documents and application ready for may 2014?

Can you help me on my query about the affidavit? Will CIC accept one from a solicitor?

And whatis the difference in the fswp Vs eoi application ?
