FSWP Application 2014

Hi friends,

I have a question; I am currently studying in a 2 year course and in my 3rd semester. I have been told that if I have to apply for my FSWP then my Visa should be valid for more than a year.

is this the case ? My visa is valid till 08/15.

The visa has to be valid for 1 year only if you choose CPC-Ottawa as your visa office (I am assuming you are in Canada right now). You can always choose your home country as your visa office and apply any time. If you do this, the latter stages of the application will be done in your home country.

but Ottawa is where I want to send the file because after my course is done I would hopefully be getting 3 years work permit. So will my spouse since he has already received his work permit and would be coming to canada by Nov end or early december this year. Which means that none of us would be in India in case we are called for anything.

Also, I wanted to use my 8 month stay in Canada for my benefit.. if in any case it helps to make the application stronger. Or should I ask my husband to apply from India and then come.. but then again for any reason if they want us to go to the Visa office it would be an issue
