HI

wanted to clarify : to be eligible for FSW, do we need to have job in NOC O,A,B only or any NOC (C and D also) is considered?

Also, if we are already in canada, do we still need to have Proof of Funds if we apply under FSW ?

Thanks

Proof of funds may get waived depending your length of stay and circumstances in Canada.

You can get thru FSW route in EE even without a job offer as long as you score well in CRS. But if you do want to go thru FSW route then you definitely need job in 0, A or B because job offer needs to be accompanied by Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), and getting LMIA for C or D category occupations would be pretty hard.

Just a job offer on it's own isn't sufficient. Your employer must be willing to go thru LMIA process to sponsor your Canadian PR / visa to go thru FSW - LMIA route.

The job offer must be in skill level O/A/B if you are getting an LMIA and plan to apply through EE.
This link gives you all the information. Funds are not required if you are legally allowed to work in Canada and have a valid job offer.

Thanx Jaxon

So, from what i understand, we can apply under FSW even if its C or D but and without LMIA if we score more than 67 points rite?

Nope, of course not. Read the FSW requirements. You need experience in O, A or B. I was just trying to explain that job offer isn't necessary. However, regardless of job offer, you need to meet basic criteria for FSW!

I don't think you have it quite yet. You do NOT need to have a job offer in order to apply under EE, but you must have at least one year of work exp in a skill level OAB job in the last 10 years otherwise you do not qualify to apply under FSW to come under EE

Hey Pippin

I understood what you said dear. My husband will complete 1 yr in Apr. last week under O and we will be applying under CEC..but I jst had to clarify if v also qualify under FSW even though v dont hv LMIA.

You are right. LMIA is not mandatory part of EE, but the 600 points it allows can be a major factor in whether or not a person has enough points to get an ITA.

But under the old FSW system you had to have a job offer. Now people have been issued ITA under the 600 mark does that mean you no longer have to have a job offer at all for FSW?

Just want to be sure. Thanks.

No, under the old system there were 3 streams, one of which was the "arranged employment stream." The other 2 streams did not require a job offer. Now the only difference is you get 600 extra points if you have arranged employment. (And, they completely eliminated the PhD stream).

There's no guarantees about the points threshold. As long as you meet the program requirements, you can get into the pool...

Thank you. As it's only just dipped below the 'job offer' points level I was just making sure it wasn't some horrible trip up.

Hi guys,

So I"m a little confused about the foreign work experience points allocation for FSW and Express Entry.

So back home in NZ I"ve worked for 2 different employers (same NOC 2175) and it was both full-time and when switching from Employer A to Employer B , there were no gaps (last day was on Tuesday and 1st day at Employer B was on Wednesday). In total it was just over 2 years combined (2.3 years)

So it seems like for FSW that counts as 2 years.

HOwever i'm hearing reports that for EE, to get points for foreign work experience, it must be continuous and in ONE occupation (employer) only ?

Can anyone verify this please ? Because I don't wanna give false info on my profile.

Thanks.

One year continuous paid in one occupation (in NOC O, A or B) to be eligible for FSW, because that one year's work experience would be used to identify your primary NOC. But you get points for all your work experience as long as it's in NOC O, A or B.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, so just making absolutely sure that ONE NOC (2175) with multiple employers will count for both FSW and EE. ...right ?
