Hi,

Can anyone please let me know about the funds I need to take to Canada on arrival.

Do we need to take the amount given in the CIC website when arriving in Canada; the settlement funds. Will it be a problem if I carry less than the amount given?

You will need to provide proof of your funds to the Canadian visa office in your home country when you submit your application for immigration.

The amount of money you need to support your family is determined by the size of your family. These amounts are updated every year.

Number of
Family Members Funds Required
(in Canadian dollars)
1 $11,115
2 $13,837
3 $17,011
4 $20,654
5 $23,425
6 $26,419
7 or more $29,414

I would suggest you take MORE than mentioned. You will need it for yourself and your family to settle down there. This is my personal opinion.

if you take less fund and if immigration officer in airport tell to show your fund then you have fill problem even they can return to you but if they have no tell any thing then you have to save less money

I've read here and there that you can take either cash or bank statement depending on where are you now based. The amount you need to show is also based on the number of family members which of course is the same as what you put in your application.

Everybody thank you very much.

However my question is on the first arrival do I need to take all the money. Can't I take half and make arrangements for bank transfer after I arrive.

On arrival you might be asked to show or prove, you have FULL amount on you.
