Hello,

I am looking for information related to Canadian immigration for professionals. Currently, I am living in the U.S for the past 10 years. I have a bachelors in Industrial Engineering from India and a masters in Industrial Engineering from a U.S. university. I have been working full-time as an Industrial Engineer for over 7 years now with a H1B work visa. I am married and my wife (H4 visa) is a Chartered Accountant from India and a Certified Public Accountant from the U.S - currently looking for employment for the last 3 years (H1B visa is such a tease). I am past the second stage (approved I140 - awaiting priority date to become current) of Green Card application but slowly losing faith in the U.S. immigration system.

I don't see Industrial Engineering in the FSW program list for 2014. But I do see Financial Auditor and Accountant in the list, which is what my spouse worked as for 2-3 years in the last 10 years.

We are getting our documents ready and also trying to schedule IELTS ASAP. We have to get our credentials evaluated by WES as well.

If my wife gets an employment offer, and we apply for FSW 2014 along with the employment offer, is her application counted against the cap? I'm trying to understand if we are too late to make the cut this time.

Thank you.

If your wife is able to secure a permanent offer of employment in Canada - then the application will not be counted against the cap (provided she is the principal applicant on the application). In other words, even if the cap has been reached, her application will still be processed due to the job offer.
