from expired visitor record to study permit ... HOW ? please advise

Hello,
I am a visitor to Calgary, Alberta, while my visitor record has been expired one week ago, and I am in the 90 day tolerance,
recently, I got an admission offer to be full-time-PhD student at the University of Calgary,
I'd like to apply for study permit instead of extending my visitor one, but it can't done from within Canada, does anybody can advise me how to do that ? especially with the recently expired status ...

Leave Canada right now and go back to your home country then apply for Study Permit

I am originally from Egypt, it is a too long travel, not easy at all,
besides, I have a lot to do right now, can I handle that in closer countries, such as USA?
can I enter USA with my status ?

have I leave Canada physically ?
or I can send my study permit application by mail or online until it done and received, then going toward the boarder to re-enter with my new status ?

You need a US visitor visa to enter the US.
