From england to canada, is this situation possible?

Hi,

I've got a possibly somewhat unusual scenario. I will try and give as much detail as I can, without blabbering on.

I met a girl online, quite a while ago, (many years now) things developed to more than friends. I've been out a few times to visit her (she is unable to visit me, but i will explain that in a bit). Obviously going for visits was one step, and the possible next step of the relationship is on the horizon. Ideally, my next trip out I would like to propose. Then the trip after that get married (this is assuming she says yes! but given recent conversations, I think she will). Obviously, we want to spend as much time together as possible, and would like to live together once married. This is where it gets complicated.
She has a disability, meaning she cannot leave her house (which is why she is unable to visit me) and is on odsp.
I myself, have a major disability, requiring 24 hour care. And in the UK I'm on ESA and DLA (It is highly unlikely I could hold down a job due to fluctuating health problems)
In terms of emigrating to Canada, Would the substantial amount of care I require disqualify me from being able to stay?
I've read you need to be able to support yourself financially for at least 3 years, obviously I would be unable to pay care costs, but my family (and my savings) are able to put money together for normal living expenses (although I don't know if there is a set amount that shows you can be financially sustainable?)

If I've missed anything, or if i need to expand on anything in particular, I am more than willing to do that.

Amazingly, this scenario is possible under current Canadian immigration legislation. I have no idea how it would work out in reality, but in theory, nothing that you have stated is a block to applying for spousal sponsorship for permanent resident status.

Whilst it's possible for your partner to sponsor you whilst on disability (providing they're not any other form of benefits), they would also be financially responsible for you for 3 years after. Meaning that if you required state assistance it would be billed directly to them. So i'm wondering how/who would be providing the care for you? I thought care would likely be the biggest difficulty, but talking to a friend from toronto, they seemed to think it would fall under a health need, if it was considered that way (I only know the care system in england) does that have any bearing on if i would be entitled to that or not?

edit:I'm reading through the link, and it says "providing basic means" is there any exact qualification for what they are, and i've now read the part negating what i said previously regarding "except for reasons caused by disability", But I think my questions are still relevant

You really need to be talking, as a couple, with an immigration lawyer in Ontario. Your case is far from simple and you might be digging a serious financial hole for yourselves.
