A friend of mine arrived to Canada and holds a study permit and because of an earth quake in his country (Turkey) Canada offered to go from a study permit to an open work permit.
he has curiosities: is it better to go on a work permit as a shorter path to apply for a PR after having a full time job for one year and being in Canada for 2 years?
how long is the work permit going to be? what happens if he gets expired after one year and then he would have to leave Canada and not allowed to apply for PR?
is he allowed to go back to his country while he is on the work permit and re-enter Canada? because the counterfoil on his passport says student, so we assume it will be cancelled if he applies for the open work permit.
does he need to be currently working for an employer to apply for the open work permit? because he doesn't work currently.
what is the reason many open work permits have a no studying allowed condition? why they care about people not going to school while being on an open work permit?
