Friend to sponsor my student visa application

I would like to ask if its allowed a friend to sponsor? We've been friends for more than 20 years now. He went to canada 6years ago and became canadian citizen now. I am planning to apply for student visa and he's willing to provide all the documents for the sponsorship. Is there anyone here have the same situation as mine that was already approved?

Extremely unlikely to be approved. Friends generally don't give each other tens of thousands of dollars to study. You or a family member should be funding your own studies.
