Im 22M, living in ontario at the moment. Im thinking to learn french and gain remote foreign experience from back home cuz i only have 425 points at the point. With those its expected to be around 550. I know I’ll crack french( idk if im overconfident lol). I wanna know if I calculated wrong cuz I have a 87 point increase whereas acc to chrome it should be just 62. Also, how feasible this option is as I have 2.5 year work permit left and doing a dead end Material handler job.

Hi! Great that you're planning ahead — with 2.5 years left on your PGWP, you have time to build a strong profile.
If your CRS is 425 now, getting to 550 may be a stretch. Here's why
  • French (NCLC 7+) adds 25–50 points
  • Foreign skilled work (1 year) + strong language scores = up to 50 points
  • So max realistic gain = ~100 points

If you're in a non-skilled job (TEER 4/5), that won’t count for Canadian experience points. Switching to a skilled role (TEER 0–3) can help.

Happy to help further.

Learning French is a good idea. Getting points for foreign experience is a good idea but assume you are aware that you can’t claim work in Canada and remote foreign work experience at the same time. Do you have 2 or more degrees? What is your education history? Would be looking for a job in a better NOC if possible.
