I do not intend to move to canada immediately. I am just going for landing for one day and plan to come back the same day. Do I need to fill Form B4 A in this case. Please advise.

Hi,

No need for the forms. I never used that forms when me and my wife landed in toronto. We had 4 suit cases and two hand bags. The customs asked do we have any thing to declare. We said nothing, we have only our dress and other nessessry stuff. That's all.

The B4 forms are necessary for those who carry many house-hold items or for those importing materials for settlement, including costly equipment, specially by un accompanied cargo carriers by road/ air/sea cargo, which needed to be cleared from customs later without duty.

I repeat again from your previous thread on the subject:

If u do not fill those forms now, u'll not be able to get your stuff later duty-free [when u r actually moving]... never, except clothing & tid-bits.

That time, for sure, u'll be bringing-in Jewelry, some Electronics [if not TV/WM sized], Murals, Heirlooms etc. etc. Even if u r not getting-it thru Cargo [for cargo, u must have the 'goods to follow list']. But, even 'on person' u cannot get them w/out paying.

However, if u r not getting any of those items -even later, u can surely condone those forms. The choice is yours.

I am confused if I need to fill in B4 or B4A. I am not taking any goods with me while landing except for some clothes since I do not intend to move to canada right now. Please advise.

Hi,

As I replied before, you don't need the forms right now while landing. Just take it easy and complete your landing formalities.

If you take/send any valuable items (exceeding the limit allowed) later to Canada during your next travel to Canada, you will be liable for customs duty, if any, applicable according to the customs rules.

What we did was, we did carry only our clothes and usual necessities, maximum to the allowed baggage limit. We are planning to bring some left over during next trip in May. We never bring lot of itmes to Canada as everything is available here.

hope you are clear now.

to ca later

So since I do not intend to move to canada in this visit do I fill just form B4A with goods that I intend to bring with me when I move to canada permanantly?

Yes. Form B4a is continuation of B4. In the middle of the B4, you check off if goods to follow, leave blank if goods are accompanied .You can get it reviewed and stamped by the Customs officer while landing..Perhaps the customs officer will give you a 'Casual Goods accounting document', ( I am not sure whether they give this paper to every one as I was only told by one of my relative that he got it when he produced the B4/4A. He had around 18 Boxes on 4 pallets sent by ship arrived after 5 months of his landing ), which need to be submitted while clearing the goods from the customs

What address should I put in the importers address section? Shall I put my US address or shall I put my friend's address in Canada? Please advise. Thanks.
