It's just my second day getting to grips with the forms and I'm still at that 'feeling overwhelmed' stage... accounting for every visit between my wife and I since 1980 is quite the challenge!!

But what I wanted to ask- in the Additional Family information form 5406 do I complete the information for Spouse even though it's she who is my sponsor and she already lives in Canada? I'm guessing you do but I didn't find it 100% clear.

No, it's only "additional family information" for the applicant (the person being sponsored), and we included ALL relatives (or relative types) specified by the guide, by putting them all on a supplementary attached document.

yes you need to put your wife's name for sure

Actually no, she's the one in Canada right, and sponsoring you? CIC don't care about the sponsor i.e. people already here legally.

The spouse must still be listed on the IMM5406. Otherwise, you have to sign in the space where it says you have no spouse, which would make no sense.

You list your parents and spouse, all your siblings and all children (Canadian children including stepchildren and overage non-dependent children) who are not part of the sponsorship on the Additional Family form.

Ah okay... yes maybe I didn't make it clear my wife who is a Canadian has already relocated back to her home in Canada and she is sponsoring me to join her from the UK.

And by the responses I guess I'm not the only one to whom it isn't 100% clear!

You put your wife where it asks for wife or common law spouse. doesn't matter where she is eh? shes still your wife :P
