Hello,

I acquired Canadian citizenship about 8 years ago and I went back to my home county to work there for 6 years.

I moved back to Canada last month to permanently live here in Vancouver, but did not know that I had to complete BSF186 form at the time of arrival.

I shipped my personal effects (including clothing, books, kitchen wares, shoes) before I came to Vancouver, so I just passed through immigration/ customs as I normally have done when I come to Vancouver. I should have looked up for information beforehand, but as I have been informed by the shipping company that I would just need to go to custom office later when my stuffs arrive in Vancouver, I thought that I would report the list of items that I sent to Canada when I clear the items with custom office.

I have to talk about this with the custom officer tomorrow, but do you think there is high possibility that my personal effects will be taxed (I sold all of my furnitures/ electronic appliances before I moved back to Canada, so I don't have anything expensive in my shipments)? I really regret that I just relied upon the shipping company's information and haven’t' actually researched about this myself :(

I think I cannot go to sleep tonight.. I guess there is no person like me who didn't know about this form at all, but if you have any similar experience or heard about something related, I would really appreciate if you could kindly give me some comments!

Thank you!!!!

You would just present the form to the customs officer with your documents and see they accept it. Fingers crossed.
