Hi job_seeker, or anyone that knows.

I'm looking to take a 6 month sabbatical from work in the UK and go to Toronto with the intention of finding a job and then move. I thought that it would be possible to look around for jobs whilst there and if I got an offer, I could request a temp work visa. After looking at the CIC site, it gives the impression that I have to apply for this before I come?

I was going to get a medical exam and criminal background check before I came to speed up the process but need some clarification as to whether it is actually possible to get a work permit when I'm there (if I've traveled on a 6 month holiday visa).

I have been offered help with a job offer to help with getting the work permit but again, unsure whether I need to sort all that out before I come to Toronto. That also seems quite a process! I did see some old posts about example offer letters - could you send me a copy of that too please?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Jim

Check out the different programmes for work visas. This might give you some idea. I see 2013 quotas have been met. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/united_kingdom-royaume_uni/experience_canada_experience/index.aspx

I'm more interested in finding out whether I can go to Toronto and find a job and start the process of work permit while there or whether I need to leave, apply and come back...
