Hello everyone,

My son and I are flying up to see my husband for Christmas. We did not expect PR so quickly and the trip was already planned so we are not "landing" at this time. My flight arrives in Toronto at 3:25pm from Bermuda and departs for Halifax at 5:10pm - 1 hr 40 minutes. Is this enough time for us to go through Customs and Immigration? The last time I flew to Toronto I was 12 years old and I am worried because it will be just me and my 5 yr old son (and I take a pill to help me fly so I will be a little slower than usual). What happens when we got off the plane in Toronto? I also understand I will have to pick up my luggage off one belt and then put it on another belt? Can someone tell me what steps I will go through before I can get to my connecting gate?

Thank you for your help!
Nell

Plenty of time to make the connection if you are not landing at this time...
Even if you were landing or say the line at Immigration is gigantic, the airline puts you on the next flight out free of charge... no hotel accommodations if it's the last flight out of the day, though...
Bon Voyage!.

Unfortunately, this is stretching the truth. Air Canada's policy requires the passengers to pay for any changes, as far as it's not the fault of Air Canada. Depending on the agent you meet, if you miss your flight due to immigrations/customs, you may be required to pay. Keep that in mind...I'm speaking from experience.

With regards the OP's original question, I'd say it depends on the traffic in the airport. If your flight arrives at same time with another flight with lots of immigrants/visitors, you can be stuck for more than an hour and the terminal to Halifax is a good 10mins walk. My advice to you is to get your seats in front of the plane and as soon as you land, try to be as fast as possible so you lead the line-up. You may be lucky and breeze thru in less than half an hr...or you may be stuck for a cpl hrs in the airport.
Goodluck and welcome to Halifax in advance.
