Hello everyone!

I just wanted to know if anyone has tried applying for a Bridging Open Work Permit through the border. The last time I went to the US, I asked the Border Patrol officer and she seemed to think I could but she didn't not give me a solid YES. This was early February so I'm afraid that she thought it was just a regular work permit and not the BOWP. Anyone else have a clue? I'm planning on trying this the next time I cross the border.

Probably, you would be the first one to try that way and most probably your request will be rejected. But, I am sure that most of us here would love to here from your experience.

Why do you think it would be rejected though? I've applied for a (normal) workpermit via flagpole with no problems.

CIC no where states that BOWP will be issued at the port of entry. Normal WPs are only issued at the port of entry upon your first arrival and subsequent WP extensions need to be applied by mail or online. This is for non visa-exempt countries.

As far as I know, only LMO-confirmed work permits (and possibly NAFTA-exempt work permits) are issued at the border. But if you try it, let us know!
