Potentially a stupid question but here goes anyway, I have my supporting letter from BCPNP (in email form as the package is 3 weeks until it arrives in the mail) along with my resume, job offer, job contract, job description, education credentials.
question 1) do they process these on the weekends too?
question 2) any tips/tricks things to look at for when i go? any additional info they want from you that I haven't stated above?

thanks,

Brett

Are you going to Land as a PR?

yes these docs looks good but wait for some senior member's reply, the port entry should be open 24/7. Make sure to take the copies.

i am going to land with a work permit

My deal is my work permit expired on the 10th or march i restored to visitor status and got my nomination for BCPNP yesterday.

So the plan was to head to the border with all those documents and hopefully be issued a work permit.

PS thanks re copies I did that today actually.

Thanks

Okay. make sense, just take the credentials etc and all the IDs and bank statements just in case, if you are asked.

I will have to try again on Monday.

I went to the Point Roberts border today and found out that my employer needs to fill out and pay IMM5802 employer compliance fee and give me the receipt prior to me going back to the border. This is a new rule that came out on the 21st Feb so unfortunately i didnt know about it. SOOO looks like I will have to wait until monday before i can go back.

I shall report once this is done

I am doing these tomorrow but in Rainbow bridge in Niagarra. I already have those documents receipts. etc. I will also let you know :)

BTW, can you tell me what other documents that the border officer checked from you? aside from imm5802 and receipts

bring your resume, job offer, nomination form, for safety i bought all my PNP documents if you have an LMIA bring that, your education credentials, bank statement, pay stubs, your current status documents.

Just bring as much stuff as you can they might ask for nothing or they might ask for everything so it is better to be prepared for anything

I'm done with my application and the CBSA officer gave me a 2 year work permit which is according to him enough time for me to process my PR. Here's my experience.

I flagpole twice today. First in Rainbow bridge Niagarra. We walked to the US border then get a paper having my name on it then a flagpole is written on the paper. We walked back to Canada Border then a guy direct me to a building and gave me a piece of yellow paper. Inside the building lots of people is waiting so I gave my passport and the yellow paper to the officer and said that wait for my name to be called. Once it's my turn be careful on what you are saying to the officer for a work permit if it's an extension say extension of work permit if it's a new work permit say new work permit and never say the word work permit only. I think the officer don't know my papers are, he's asking for an LMIA which I showed him the IMM5802 for LMIA exempt and a work permit support letter from the province who nominate me. He directly told me that he don't know that if he can process it so he go inside a room maybe talked to his superior and after a few minutes he told me that he can't process it and I should submit it online or by mail not at the border. The other officer ask the guy who handled my paper if they really can't do that and he said yes so meaning all of them who are in charge at the rainbow bridge don't really know. We have nothing to do so we leave without a new work permit. Feeling hopeful since other people already landed and get a new work permit at the border we then proceed to Lewiston bridge just a few km's from Niagarra to try at different border. So same thing we go to the US border but this time driving get a flagpole paper then do a U-Turn and head back to Canada. My first impression at the officer who talked to us at Canada Border is he really knows what I am trying to do so same thing he gave me a yellow paper but this time get to see all my documents including my old work permit so he writes at the yellow paper getting a new work permit for a new employer under provincial nomination. He told us to park at one of the parking stall then proceed inside the building. There are actually no people inside but a lot if CBSA officer so one officer get the yellow paper and my passport and wait for 5 minutes. After that the officer ask me the documents IMM5802, receipt that my employer paid, job offer and the work permit support letter. after a quick scanning on my documents he told me to sit down and wait until he completely processed my work permit finally!! he then direct me to a cashier and ask to pay $155 for processing. Waited for 30 minutes then he called my name and gave my new work permit.

Just on my thoughts, It's much easier to do a flagpole on a border which is not easily accessible by people who walk or make sure that you flagpole when you are sure that the officers are busy so they are not on a rush because of people who are piling up on the line. So goodluck to everyone who is planning to do a flagpole :)

Thank you for sharing us your experience and congrats for having a new work permit.. May I just ask if you still have a valid trv and wp when you went to the border?
I will apply for wp extension next week by paper. My trv and work prrmit will expire on April 14, if I received my nomination can I apply at the border even if I already have an application on process?

Hi I have valid TRV until December 2015, it is required that you have a valid TRV to enter canada and get a work permit extension.

I want everyone to be aware of the documents they should have while flag poling for (renewing, restoring or new ) work permit

*Ensure you are not on implied status - If you are on implied status the moment you exit canada , you are loosing your status . Even if you are just taking a U turn at the border still u loose your implied status

* Ensure you have ALL the documents - When i say "ALL " i mean it . Every possible doc on earth, take it with you.

* In case , you are on implied status and you are in a situation that you badly need the permit to be done asap , before exiting canada ensure you walk to the Canadian office at the border 1st ( yes you can deviate from the drive way without exiting canada , many seems be unaware about that). EXPLAIN everything (SPECIALLY ABOUT YOUR STATUS IF ITS IMPLIED) .*** THIS SHOULD BE DONE EVEN IF THE OFFICER IS NOT INTERESTED/BUSY*******
They might ask you just to walk over and take a u turn , then u can meet an officer. Still i would suggest you speak about your situation then only exit canada if that is required . Also if possible get them to check the documents you have is enough to get your permit done

If you are not careful about the above things , the moment you flag pole you are out of your status . And later when the officer checks your documents and if he/ she finds something is missing, you will be denied the permit, your travel docs will be confiscated as you are out of status..

Documents you need - I am not sure about this , coz whatever you have , there are chances that they ask for more ( rules keeping changing every next moment. So better meet an officer and get him/ her check your docs 1st before you exit .

SAFE SIDE - You have a valid TRV with ***multiple entry*** , then you dont hvae to be so alert as you wont be oosing any status and they will let you in even if any docs are missing

FYI - CIC customer service will never say the flag polling option .They keep chanting "apply on line or via paper and wait until the processing time as mentioned in their website
