Can anobody please suggest me about a predicament I am into regarding my first visit to Canada. I have a flight from Delhi to Edmonton with 2 layovers; first at Narita, Japan and 2nd at Vancouver. Now, I have only 90 mins. layover at Vancouver airport and I presume my PR card processing & other formalities would be done at Vancouver itself as it is my first point of entry to Canada. Now, I am anticipating that I would miss my flight to Edmonton due to this. I made a mistake by not looking or thinking about it while booking the flight. But now, I tried to contact Vancouver airport, Air Canada (my flight) but noone could come up with any solution. I am not sure what should I do? I was looking to reschedule my flight but my booking site "My Trip" also denied to do that as they said I will have to book a completely new flight and your PR processing is not our concern. Can anybody suggest anything on this scenario? Thanks a lot.

Kind Regards
Dhruv

You have no realistic alternatives. You must complete your landing at the first Port of Entry, as there will be no immigration available after the internal domestic flight to Edmonton. The only thing that I can think of is to enter without landing, as a visitor and then try to make an internal landing appointment with IRCC at an Edmonton office.

Well at least your bags may well be offloaded at Vancouver for customs clearance but whether you make your connection seems doubtful so you probably will have to book an onward flight to Edmonton probably approx 250 CDN .looking at Expedia.

Otherwise as Zardoz says land as a visitor just to make your connection although 90 minutes if any delays or long immigration lines depending on time of day could still be a challenge.

But if were me I would put down as a lesson learnt and plan to cough up the additional airfare rather than mess around with a landing at an office which might take weeks to get an appointment who knows.

It is an unfortunate thing with airline booking systems that they never seem to warn people upfront about connection times and assume everything will always run smoothly almots as though everyone maybe only travels with carryon for example.
