First Entry - Need Advice!

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum. Need help please.

I got my visa stamped this year in Feb. I plan to make my first visit between August to September 2012 (yet to be confirmed). I have few questions, please advice!

1) Medicals done in December, does this mean i have to enter before my expiry date mentioned on the PP?
2)I am a single girl so in order to show myself financially secured and that too independently apart from finance what else can i show as a proof, someone mentioned Gold asset but need someone to shed more light on this?
2) How do i show the CAD 12000?
3) From Dubai - can anyone recommend cheap direct flight to Canada?
4) I am looking for hotel apartments in Brampton, do not want to rely on relatives. Please recommend some cheap hotel apartments?

I am looking for answer from experienced people, who has entered Canada got their SIN no's sorted. I don't mind exchanging email addresses and BB pins and make new friends here. I am originally from Pakistan (Catholic). I plan to stay there for 3 -4 weeks and then come back, make myself financially stong and then settle for good!

I am also landing in May and then come back and settle in Canada after a few months. I am single as well.

As regards money, I am planning to take cash £5000 (havent made up my mind if I want to convert it in canadian dollars or not but i think i will because then I can use this money to deposit in a bank account when i open one in canada and get credit card straight away). Cash or bank draft is recommended. I am sure about gold.

For flights, google is the best. Try Kayak (it is a comparison site for flights) Also, look at Air Transat but i dont know if it departs from dubai.

For accommodation in Brampton, Good gle again. I looked at some temporary accom before but I will have to find the sites again. PM me and I will see if I can get these sites.

You visa is valid until 12 months after your medicals done. but the expiry date should be mentioned on the visa as well as COPR.

Once you complete landing then you are okay. The expiry is for completing landing.

I have not looked into SIN no etc. But I can share my experience once I have done that in May when I land.

Make sure you stay in Canada until you receive your PR card if you are not going to take help from your relatives. After you land, PR card takes 3-4 weeks to come in post and they only post to a canadian address. For entering canada next time you need PR card.
