I will be applying for my spouse to come to Canada but I am just wondering since I don't have a job (or currently live in Canada), or have much in savings, can I put that I have a line of credit available to me?? payments on the line of credit would be small (usually 3% of the balance).
I have a very small deposit from CPP that gets deposited into my account monthly. And I have a car that I could sell, if I needed to, plus I have a letter from my parents stating we can stay with them if he gets approved.

My question is: will putting that I have credit cards and a line of credit available to me, help my application???

No Income minimum requirements is needed when sponsoring your other half. As long as you aren't on benefits or not filed for anything like bankruptcy then it shouldn't be an issue . If you wanna strengthen your application if your other half has a job waiting for him or a letter of potential employment upon sponsorship approval it will move more in your favor. I wouldn't go listing things like credit lines or cards for support as its really putting yourself in debt and with no job and needing to pay back your debts, it might be frowned upon. just my 2 bits.

You don't need to show income, just have a plan to support yourselves that doesn't involve welfare.

And for the record, lines of credit are liabilities, not assets.

I was planning on doing a breakdown of what we have and what we owe (A & L), I guess I shouldn't do that then (although he has 2 flats here, Egypt, but still owes on both of them, they are currently still being built).
Another thing, is that my husband can keep his employment when he is approved to come to Canada.

Provide a letter explaining how you two gonna support yourselves.
Things like what you stated above for example.

As long too as he can establish he will remain in Canada on approval even if has over seas jobs. They will not issue a residence visa if he spends most his time away. Random question here, is that the right course you should take given whats going on over in Egypt? If he is well successful over there, maybe as a option for you yourself to relocate there? Just a simple thought is all, not trying to thwart you away from sponsorship yourself.

Ok, that was another question (because of his travels for work)…..and I am currently living in Egypt with our daughter. We want her to have more opportunities for her (school, clean air, etc). I guess we need to re-think things, job wise, as he could get a job over there, when the oil industry picks up. We never know how long he might work for with oil prices the way they are.

I know over in Calgary they laid off 1700 jobs in the oil field due to the declining oil prices. Its had a big impact on people who invested their time on it. Def. have a think about it. But sponsorships are just that, for people to settle perm in canada, work, pay their canadian taxes, etc. If husband would be spending most his time away it would be more ideal to stay till you come up with a plan and that he intends to settle and work there. Good luck to you anyway :)

He doesn't actually work here in Egypt, he works in India, so he travels when he is here too!! But at least I would be more comfortable at home in Canada. He would still have to pay taxes in Canada :( Which he only pays taxes in India right now. Decisions decisions
