Hi all,

After a long wait, my wife recieved a response from Visa office asking for her passport for visa issuance.

I have a question, I would like to ask. Someone might be able to help me out.

My address on on-line services (Where you verify the status of your application) is my previous address, and currently I stay in a different address. (We recenly moved, and before I inform the Visa office, my wife got a notification to send her passport for visa issuance). So, my new address in not updated. So here's my question now:

- If I send the passpot (BTW, they asked me (my wife) to include a self-addressed envolop, so they can return the passport back to me. Since, I don't stay in my previous address--which is on file--and if I give the current(new) jaddress, whould that be alright? Will they not question that this address is not on file? Or its ok? Please advise?

I appreciate your inputs.

Thanks,

Toledo

This will delay your visa for minimum of 3months!
Why can't you speak to your previous landlord that you are expecting a parcel in your old address?
It really makes sense that way otherwise, it may take another 6months for them to update your address.
Also, if you write a cover letter with the passport it will still take a very long time to update your address on their system.
If i were you, i would stick with my old address (unless the house has been sold or demolished or you are not in good terms with your previous landlord/tenants). If this is the case, submit your passport, write a cover letter with your new address and a proof of your new address, like a phone bill/utility bill BUT expect your passport with visa back in minimum of 3months if you chose this option.
Good luck

How in the heck could this delay the application for a minimum of three months?? Where exactly are you getting this information from, or are you simply making it up?? I dont see why a cover letter wouldnt suffice...

You ask from someone that has tried to change their address with CHC and they would tell you it is not straight-forward as you imagine it should be! It's my 2cents worth for toledo, he has his decision to make.

alok11, maybe it would've been quicker and more straight-forward if tried the CIC instead of the CHC? The Heli Co is really bogged down right now, budget cuts y'know? :-)

Toledo, I haven't done it yet but may end up in your situation if my hubby gives up his flat (and visits me in Canada) before getting his PR. We will just tell them right away when we move, probably by both fax and email. We will inform them that his new permanent address will be (his parents address) in Germany, but request that all correspondence be sent to him c/o me in Canada, since he will be visiting there for 3-months. But if you send a postage-paid, self-addressed return envelope and a little cover-letter or note mentioning the change I don't see why it should be a problem (unless your new residence is not in your issuing VO's jurisdiction?). BTW, you can change the address on ecas (but only to a Canadian one, from what I can tell).

Cheerio,
TLH (holding her breath and turning blue because it's MONDAY!!!)

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. Here I would like to give abit more background.

The previous address where we used to stay, is actually my in-law's now. In other words, my in-laws currently staying at the address, where we used to. So, even if I provide the previous address, my in-laws will send any correspondence to me. The only reason why I wanted to do this, is to cut down the amount of time that will take for my in-laws to send to me the correspondance. But, if I know it can cause any delay/issue, then I'd rather provide the privous address, which is on file. Thanks alot guys for your valuable information. And I hope the best of luck to every member of this forum who are eagerly awaiting for good news, I know how it feels to be waiting.

Good luck all.
