Hi All,

I'm planning to take my parents along with my wife next year to Canada. My wife would be getting PR by then and my question to you guys.

How hard is it to get a visitors visa for my parents? I would only be there for 5-6 months by then..

Although this is temporary, I would like my parents to migrate with us to canada(file for family PR for them in the future) How long do you guys think this will take?

To be approved for a visitor visa to come to Canada temporarily, your parents will have to demonstrate that they are genuine visitors and have ties to their home country. Their chances of being approved will be greater if they have strong ties to their home country (e.g. property, jobs) and have traveled before to other countries where a visa was required.

As for sponsoring them for PR, CIC is now only accepting 5,000 parents/grandparent applications per year. To qualify to apply to sponsor them, you must be able to provide three years of Canadian tax returns that show you meet the minimum income to sponsor your parents and this income has come from Canadian sources. Once the sponsorship application is submitted, you should expect the process to take at least three years - quite possibly a lot longer.

Another question I forgot to ask...
What do you think of supervisa?

Yes - the super visa is certainly an option if you would like them to come for a longer visit. You will have to show you have sufficient income from Canadian sources to meet the low income cut off for super visas. This means that if you aren't currently working in Canada, you'll have to wait until you are. They will also have to pass a medical in order to qualify for the super visa.
