Filing outland while in Canada

Can anyone that has gone through the outland process from inside Canada please give me a total estimate of all fees?

Plus medical - $ depends on DMP
Mine in Ottawa was:
$185 for medical + $45 for x-ray + $11:38 for blood work = $241.38

Police check $ depends where from.
Mine from the UK $56 plus postage


TOTAL = $1337.38

Location has nothing to do with how much you pay in PR fees. The only difference as far as fees is concerned when you apply outland while staying in Canada is the cost of extending your temporary status. Your ability to remain in Canada during processing of an outland PR ap is dependent on you keeping your temporary status valid.

That begs the question,..
Is it normal to be able to stay in Canada (visa extension for visa exempt) while your outland application is being processed (as long as you keep temporary status up to date)?

I think it depends on each person and circumstance (and also will depend on who the IO is too - we got a nice one). They gave me 9 months as a visitor (have a visitor record) when I crossed the border from the USA to Canada in October. Of course, that doesn't guarantee re-entry, so if I crossed again, they might give me less on returning. It was nice though, as I don't have to pay for the extension, if hopefully, I get the visa within that time period (the IO didn't seem to think I'd get it within 6 months, particularly since we didn't file the application yet when we crossed). I think the main thing to show is that you can support yourself while being in Canada while not working there (having money in the bank or showing that your spouse/partner can take care of you). I don't know that for sure, but that's my guess. I think the extensions cost $125.
