Hi all,

We applied for outland spousal sponsorship in March 2019, and had our interview on Jan 18,2020. I am Canadian citizen and my sponsorship was approved just in 1-2months of application. My husband had a history of refusals, which is the reason probably we got the interview. Otherwise we have no red flags, as we have been in a genuine relationship now for a few years. I have visited him over 4 times in a period of 2 years etc. Even the Visa officer mentioned she had no doubts that our relationship is genuine but due to his history they have to decide etc.

Anyways my question now is due to the on-going situation obviously visa offices in New Delhi are probably closed or not processing files. Does anybody have a clue when they will start processing files? I got laid off and it is very stressing for me now. I found out that if I do apply for CERB, my sponsorship will not be affected, however if I go on EI then it would. Honestly I was willing to just travel and stay with him in India till his file is processed but as you all now, travel now is restricted and also not advised.

Can any body offer some advise? Everyone keeps saying just be patient due to current situation, I do understand but due to lay off I am concerned what is the best option?

Sponsorship will not be impacted if you go on EI. Only if you go on social assistance / welfare.

Really appreciate your prompt response. Any idea if processing is still happening or it is just going to be a long wait ?
