Hello all, long time lurker and first time poster.

I am in a unique situation because of my age and qualification. Which are as such

Qualification : B. Tech
Age: 33
Possible CRS : 419
Freelance experience 5+ Years

Since I can't get PR right now, I have been considering a 1 year program from Canada with 1 year PGWP. and following are the questions I need some clarification on:

1) I have experience in my chosen field, If while studying I get a part time job in that field, can that be counted towards Canadian experience?
2) If I work 40 hours a week for 40 weeks for total 1600 hrs during my PGWP, will I be able to claim 1 year of experience?

I am asking all this because with 1 year of studies and 34 years of age I can score 450 points but that is very close to general cut off and I'd like to have the 1 year experience added to that to be sure that I will get PR.

Thanks

1) No. Work during your studies cannot be counted towards PR.
2) No. Each week you work 30 hours or more is only counted as 1 week of work experience. You need at least 52 separate weeks (after you complete your studies) where you worked 30 hours or more to be able to claim a year of Canadian work experience.

You should take a 2 year program so that you qualify for a 3 year PGWP. With a one year PGWP, chances are high you won't be able to get a full year of Canadian work experience.

Do you have recognized Master? If not you can just take any post secondary study for at least 1 year + try to max your IELTS and that should do the trick (yes you will loose points for aging, but you can make more).

Why do you need more than 400 CRS points. When 400 points are enough to apply for Ontario PNP.
There is no difference in getting PR through federal or PNP.
