I am currently working in Canada on closed WP and got ITA in the recent CEC draw. My 1st son (19 years old) is currently in India and got admission in Carleton University, Ottawa. His Study Permit application is in progress now, expected to get the approved during Feb / Mar-2021 and travel to Canada during Apr-2021.

1) Is it OK to include him as applicant even though he is not in Canada now? I still have 80 days left to submit my application.
2) I already got Biometrics completed in 2019 (when applied for WP). Is that Biometric valid for PR?

  1. Being in Canada or not is not important. YES, OF COURSE it is okay.
  2. NO, biometrics done for Temporary residency (TR) applications (Work, Study, Visitor) CANNOT be used for PR applications. The contrary, however, is true. Biometrics taken for PR applications could be used for TR applications. You need new biometrics and must pay for them.
question 2 - as of today, the WP biometrics is valid for PR application
This is wrong

This is wrong

Actually if they have given biometrics prior, within the last 10 years, then they are exempt from giving them again for PR applications, and they are valid. It is a temp measure, but it is true.

Biometrics exemption for permanent residence applicants who have given biometrics within the last 10 years
As a temporary measure, you’re exempt from giving biometrics if you have both of the following:

  • already applied or are applying for permanent residence
  • given your biometrics within the last 10 years
Biometric fee

If you meet one of the above 2 exemptions, you don’t have to pay the biometric fee when you submit your application, even if the system tells you to pay it.

If you paid the fee, we’ll automatically refund it once we finalize your application.

Maybe for the time being they are accepting TR biometrics for PR applications. Makes sense and it's good they've done that.

My apologies for not being up to date with this aspect.
Its all good. It is recent and temporary. I benefitted from it as i gave biometrics for a WP extension in 2019, and those got automatically used for my PR application in 2020

Thanks a LOT to everyone for their response here. Appreciate it.

1) Yes, I got to know that I do not require Biometric as the biometric done for 2019 still suffices for the PR
2) I am not clear with my responses for the 1st question. Does it mean that my 1st son will also get his PR (even though he is India). If yes, does not he need give medical exam again. Three months back only he completed his medical test for his Study permit?

I have a query. I had submitted an application for Express Entry last year in July. As of now my eligibility is only under FSW. My current score is 444. But, I complete 1 year of Canadian work experience on 2nd March 2021. Will my score automatically get updated to include the additional points for 1 year of Canadian Experience (My original score when I had filed the application was 449. But it got changed to 444 in August when I lost 5 points for age on my birthday) or will I have to update my application myself? Thanks in advance.

Criminality in progress (recommend pass), Eligibility recommend pass, Security not started.

My Eligibilty became Recommend Pass on January 14th, so i’ll call next week to see if there are any updates.
My Eligibilty was recommended passed on November 6,2020. I doubt it will be conclusively passed by next week, unless you receive a ghost update. I received a ghost update yesterday and may have had had mine conclusively passed 3 months later.
