Hello Everyone,

I came to Canada as an International student, graduated in 2012 and have been working full time now for just about a year. I m palnning to apply for my permamant residence in Oct this year under Canadian Experience class (CEC), and I have a few questions listed below regarding the same. There is a lot of strories (True/Untrue) making rounds out there. I ll be greatly thankful If you guys can help me find answers:

1) Is IELTS required for filing PR under CEC, if so, is there any minimum band requirement ? I m in Alberta right now.

2) What other documentation am I gonna need from my employer otherthen Offer letter (with job responsibilties listed) and Pay stubs ?

3) Do I need to get my work premit extended before I file my PR? My status is expiring in Sept-2014, and I m eligible to get one and half year long more of work permit. so is it adivisable to get my work pemit extended before I apply for PR?

4) Am I allowed to leave country for short period of time between the time period of "after I have filed my PR and before the decision is made on my file", As I m planning to make a trip to India later this year ?

Thanks for taking time to read this post.

Yes, a language test is required, NO is doesn't have to be IELTS. You can also do the CELPIP-G test.
Minimum language requirement depends on your job, skill level A jobs require better results than skill level B.
More information about CEC requirements here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

From your employer you only need the reference letter with all information mentioned
on the document checklist ( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5610E.pdf ).
Pay stubs are optional documents, but not required.

3) Do I need to get my work premit extended before I file my PR? My status is expiring in Sept-2014, and I m eligible to get one and half year long more of work permit. so is it adivisable to get my work pemit extended before I apply for PR?

When you apply for PR and pass the first stage you become eligible for a BOWP. One of the requirements is a valid work permit tho.
So I would recommend extending your work permit, then apply for PR. Once you get your AOR you can apply for BOWP.

4) Am I allowed to leave country for short period of time between the time period of "after I have filed my PR and before the decision is made on my file", As I m planning to make a trip to India later this year ?

Yes, sure! You don't even have to be in Canada to apply and file your application. You can file it and leave, or leave and then apply.
All that matters is that you meet the minimum requirements and keep CIC updated with your current mailing address during the process.

All of your questions are addressed by the instruction guide and document checklist for CEC applicants.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/cec.asp

As well, the OP25A provides the instructions that Visa Officers follow.

You should regard these official sources of information as "true."
