Hi,

You may remember my last post, about getting a police certificate for my partner from the Dominican Republic.

We went to the consulate in his country (Spain) and they said they could get it... and now they are telling us they cant...

We have a friend in dominican who tried to get it for us... and they wouldnt give it to him..

I am feeling like we will never be able to get this stupid paper. Do you think without it we will not get approved? He was only in the country for one year and has a clean record for all his life... any advice?

Do you have any documentation from the consulate etc. saying they can't get his police certificate? If you don't, you should go and get those refusal letters asap.

IF CIC waives the requirement, you will need extensive documentary proof. I have only heard of CIC waiving a police certificate if it's from Saudi Arabia (I think - I may be wrong) and they do not issue any for foreigners who are no longer in the country or something. Even then, applicants need to submit official letters (from the police or consulate, I don't know) refusing to issue the police certificate.

OK thank you, I will ask the consulate to send a letter of refusal... they didnt refuse exactly they just said "its not possible", they cant seem to figure out how to do it... it doesnt make sense...
