Hello! My application should have been mailed out in February, but unfortunately (and after many tears) my fingerprints have now been denied a second time. "Low quality of characteristics" I believe. This of course comes as a massive surprise, especially considering these fingerprints were extremely visible and the instructions read by the police officer thoroughly.

Obviously I must be doing something wrong and cannot afford to lose any more time (by the time I mail my application -- hopefully unless prints are denied again -- I'll have lost 6 months just waiting for a police clearance). What have you done? Where did you go to get your prints done? Thank you all.

Nyssa,
Where are you? I got mine done at an Identification Canada office in Montreal. I can look up the address and phone number for you if you're anywhere near there.

Unfortunately I am not, but thank you. I am in the US, Chicago area.

Sorry to hear this, Nyssa. I was doing my fingerprints at MI local police office (for skilled program while I was a student in the US). Those worked for the first time. I was told they are going to change their equipment soon to get digital fingerprints (like they have un US consular office in Toronto, I guess) May be you can call the office your are going and ask which method do they use, or can suggest where to go and what to do.... That's a shame for them! Maybe you can send your application as it is for right now including FBI responses and explanation letter that you don't want to waste your time anymore and will send the PC as soon as you receive it clear, IMHO....

Nyssa, I got my fingerprints done in the US, Charleston SC, by going to the local police department. I had a form that I had printed from the cic website. The police officer said he could do them but I needed the actual official police form and not my printed copy to get accurate results. It took a few trips to get the right form but it was worth it. The officer actually printed the set on both forms and the difference was significant. The fingerprint machine was digital as well. If print quality is a problem, I hope this information helps.

AllisonVSC I thought they didn't accept digital prints.

Anyway, nyssa I am very very sorry to hear that as I have been watching your progress and been hoping the best for you. If I were you, I would go ahead to send off a new one but this time send 2-3 copies with it. Then go ahead and send in your PR application with any information you have to verify as to your reasoning for it not being included in the initial application and that you will send it in as soon as you receive a positive result. The little bit of delay may be worth it in your situation seeing as right now it would probably be in your best interest to go ahead and get the process going. You have already delayed it by long enough and to which none was your fault so if I were you, I would go ahead and send it in.

I am hoping that I won't occur with any problems with mine. I mailed my first one on March 9th and mailed a second one the next week as in hopes of thinking that if they refuse the first one then at least a second one will be right behind that one for another try and I wouldn't have to wait another few months to get the refusal and then mail one, they would already have another to try with. Maybe you could do this as it may help you feel more relaxed with it. It might have seemed like a waste of money but that waste of money could save you months of worry and stress.

I hope that you find a better place to help you and that you have better luck than this with your actual application.
I wish you the best of luck with everything and I am very sorry to hear about this. Keep your chin up girl. :)

May I ask though when you sent in your second request and when you received your answer?
I think their timelines are slowly get less and less again which is good for all of us. I hope it won't take too long to get mine.

If there have been problems twice, then talk to your local police and ask if they have a fingerprint technician who takes prints from the deceased. They are usually able to get a clear set of prints.

Thank you all very very much for your advice. I will take all of it into consideration. And CMP - 8 weeks it took the second time. 12 weeks I think the first.

Allison - I think you just gave me the answer I was looking for as to why my prints didn't process. I did them on hard-copy printed paper (sturdy, but still printed). They worked the first time but my prints expired therefore I had to redo them (thus all this hassle).

Again, thanks to all!

Thank you for giving me an estimate nyssa. :)
I glad you got advice you were looking for. Hopefully you find something to help you.

And should I have not printed off the FBI thing on card copy paper? How should I have done it?

I just got off the phone with a woman at the FBI office who told me that if my fingerprints aren't coming through I should ask CIC for a "backup plan". ::)

This theory makes absolutely no sense. I have all 10 fingers, no scars. She says my prints are worn from typing too much and may never be able to process. Obviously 2 states have no problem! On the bright side, you can definitely send as many copies as you want at one time and all can be processed, like your idea CMP. However I will be sending them all seperately and paying extra. I just don't care about the money when it comes to this.

I don't know if it's the paper. They sent me a different looking paper when they sent me a letter saying they couldn't process them. My last prints were so dark and vivid... still makes just no sense.
