I just got my American FBI Certificate today saying I have no arrest record. CiC had emailed me requesting this certificate and given me 90 days to send it in (I have until December 13th). I plan on scanning this today and emailing them the scan, explaining in the email that I am mailing in the actual physical certificate and envelope. What address do I mail this to and what do I need to include with it to ensure they know to put it with my case?

The email that you received from CIC may have specified the office and address they need you to send the PCC to. If there is no such address mentioned, you could send it to:

Send original Police Certificates to:

Case Processing Centre – Ottawa
Documents request
365 Laurier Avenue West
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 1L1

*Found here: cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp ; FAQ no. 5

I am assuming that it is CPC-Ottawa processing your application (as mentioned in your timeline)!

Here's the email they sent:

Dear [name]:

This is in reference to your application for permanent residence in Canada.

In order for us to continue the processing of your application, we require the following documents:

Ø [number] - [name]:
> FBI Clearance: If your residence period in the USA has been six months or longer since the age of 18, provide an original FBI clearance certificate
> Divorce certificate: If previously married, please provide our office with a divorce certificate(s), application(s) for divorce and divorce order(s)

Instructions to obtain Police Certificates can be found on our website: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/index.asp.

The above information/documents must be received in our office within 30 days from the date of this letter. FBI certificates or proof of application for same must be provided within 90 days from the date of this letter.

If we do not receive a response within the time allotted to you from the date of this notice, a decision will be made based on the information on your file, which could result in the refusal of your application.

Please reply directly to this email and put your application number in the title.

Please note:

· Any documents submitted which are not in English or French must be accompanied by a notarized translation in either English or French.

· Please send us scanned versions of the requested documents. Please do not submit originals, unless otherwise stated, as documents submitted will not be returned.
· Please note that we can only accept unzipped PDF, JPG or .doc files that are attached to an email, totaling less than 5 MB.

(note: I already took care of the divorce certificate part)

The email doesn't mention anything about where to send the actual PCC or even if you need to send the physical copy! But going by this link here (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/canada/ottawa.asp) it would be prudent to send it to the CPC-Ottawa processing office at the address specified under FAQ 5.

Do note this fact mentioned just above the FAQ section:

"Make sure that you include your name, file number, date of birth and Unique Client Identifier (UCI) to help us identify your application."

Hope this helps!

That helps a lot, thank you so much! :D
