How long is it valid for? I heard its good for just three months but once immigration gets it..its good for a year? is that correct?

You have to submit it to CIC within 3 months of when it is issued, then it's good for 1 year.

My mothers FBI expired in 2013, Sep yet they never asked for another copy so although validity is 1 year, they normally don't trouble much for another copy
