FBI background check question...please help!

Hello everyone,

I am wondering what happens if Mississauga receives your packet and your background check is expired or close to being expired.

I am waiting for my medical results slip(which should be here any day now) and once I get that in the mail, I will be mailing it to my Husband...this is the last thing that we are waiting on. I am hoping that it will be to him by the end of February. My fbi check expires on March 16 so when it is received in Mississauga, it will be cutting it a little close.

When do they look at the date...when they first receive your packet? When it gets sent to Buffalo?

Will our packet still get processed in Mississauga is my background check is expired or will they send it all back to my Husband? Or, if they need an updated fbi check, will they still process my application in Mississauga and then contact me at a later time asking for an updated fbi check?

We are just wondering if we should send our packet in hoping that it gets there before my fbi check expires or if we should wait at least another month while we wait for another one.

If you can get your medical receipt to your husband by the end of February, there is no reason that the application can't be received in Mississauga by March 16th. Use a courier or Xpress post. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand-grenades. In immigration, that "date received" stamp is EVERYTHING.

Buffalo is the one who is really concerned about how long ago the FBI check was done - not Mississauga. When I first submitted my application back in March 2007, I had no idea that the FBI was supposed to be only 3 months old. It was 7 months old by the time it got to CPC-M, but they approved my sponsor and forwarded the file to Buffalo anyway.

Buffalo actually never even requested another FBI - probably because they intended to refuse the application from the beginning . . . or maybe because they knew I'd been in Canada with valid temporary status since before my FBI was done. Either way, Mississauga did not send the application back to us because my FBI was expired. If Buffalo wants a new one, they'll write to you and ask for it before they make a final decision.

One question I have: why are you having to wait for the DMP to send you proof of medical? He should have just given you your copy of the form at your appointment. He is not going to send you the results - you only need to submit proof that you underwent examination.
