you have to understand from their perspective, they will think you will stay in Canada, therefore, I dont think its possible. Hope Im wrong !

Contact the Canadian embassy or high commission in your country and make an application for a temporary resident visa - a regular visitor's visa. Explain your circumstances, and provide proof both of the funeral and that you will leave Canada afterwards. Then try to talk to someone there and ask for speedy processing and humanitarian considerations.
