Famous/Well known Canadian in family.

I don't think it would matter - but would it make a difference for my application if I am related to a famous Canadian? Like - would my application be scrutinized more carefully? I didn't even really mention it at all in my application but I was just curious.

As you are the sponsor, CIC will not care at all. Now, if the applicant was related to a "famous" person, such as a terrorist for example, that would be very different.

Yeahhh I could see that being a problem for sure. Thankfully, that is not the case.

Depends what you mean by famous. If the connection could generate 'media' exposure, I remember reading a detailed CIC procedure which went into details on flagging the file and alerting certain regional/central offices within certain time periods. Of course, it would require them figuring out the connection since you didn't mention it.

Really! I am like 99% sure mine won't generate media exposure, I was just curious if it would effect it at all.

Don't remember offhand in which Manual/Bulletin it's embedded. It just described when it had to be escalated (basically, cases with high likelihood to have media interest because the person applied for visa/refugee status/PR status), to whom to report it to (emails and roles), and what flag to use in the file.
