Hello,

I'm getting married next year in August, I am a PR here in Canada. My family plans to come here: Dad (73), mom (53), sister (28) and brother (48) both working in the Philippines. I've checked the website but just really confused as to the process.

My dad will be the main applicant and will include my mom and siblings and will pay for the plane ticket. That's the plan but I'm not sure if its the best, seeing as my sister and brother have never been out of the country before and their age doesn't help. Any advise on how to proceed? What would be the best way to apply for them to get a tourist visa?

Thank you!

Your dad can include your mom in his application. Your sister and brother must apply separately. Too much financial dependence on your dad would be detrimental for your siblings.

1. Are they employed or have a business?

2. Do they own property or land? A lease? Rental income?

3. How long do they intend to visit?

I believe that your sister and brother are both completely separate applications as they are not "family members" from an IRCC perspective..

Hi thanks for replying. My sister works full time and my brother only part time because he is waiting to be sponsored by his wife to go to Dubai. Yes, I believe they both have property or land. They live together with my dad, my brother only recently because his wife went to Dubai for work.

They are all planning to visit for like two weeks, just for the wedding only and to meet my fiance's family and thats it. They can't stay long because of work.

I just want them to be here for the wedding, my dad and mom recently went to New York last year as well so I think it will be easy for them right? How about my sister and brother? How does it look for them? I really appreciate the reply. Thank you!

Thank you, my friends are co-workers are suggesting I should apply them all together but I keep reading the website and its just so confusing. Thank you so much!

No apply separately. They are adults. Your mother and father have a better chance of being approved so it it better that they aren't grouped together.

I would not advise applying together even though your sister and brother must apply individually/not as part of your parents' application.

Your parents must apply first. As for your sister and brother, do post the list of documents that each intends to submit

Your friends and co-workers are probably not familiar with the online application process. They could technically apply all together if they apply by paper, but that's not necessary, and it costs extra.

They could apply at the same time online (submit their applications at roughly the same time frame), and the VOs will put two and two together. (If you choose to apply together instead of separately as other members suggest...I personally don't believe in that technique, but it's your call.) Besides, there is a family information form where they indicate whether the other family members are also traveling together to Canada.

Yes, can I process the application for my parents while I am here in Canada or do they need to do it in the Philippines? Do they have to apply in the Canadian embassy back home, be interviewed and all that? Thank you

You can do it from Canada...but of course, their country of residence is the Philippines.

They very rarely interview for TRVs. You could do the entire application on your end provided you have scanned copies of their passports.

If they're approved, they'll have to submit their passport to VFS in Manila or Cebu, whichever is nearer.

For my sister and brother, they will also provide for their own stay here in Canada. Their list includes:

Travel History
Passport
Invitation Letter
Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter
Proof of Means of Financial Support
Digital Photos
Purpose of Travel
Proof of Relationship
Family Information

So, my wedding is next year in August. Can I apply for them as early as now, or would it be better to wait for next year when the wedding is near? thank you

I missed that. Don't apply more than one year in advance. It would be best if your parents and siblings apply around this time next year

Oh shoot sorry, I sent the wrong copy of lists.

For my brother and sister, they're planning to provide documents such as:

My invitation letter to visit me for the wedding, (includes, plans, schedules, times and reception of wedding)
land assets that both they own,
passports copy and travels outside the philippines, (my sister travelled only this year), (my brother, not so sure, I dont think he has travelled outside philippines)
employment letter, (my sister works as a nurse in a hospital for almost 2 years), (my brother in a private institution as a clinic nurse as well)
bank account statements for the past couple of months,
travel itineraries here in Canada - where they will be staying (mostly in BC for the wedding)
proof of family ties to me
and I believe that's it according to the list in the website. Is that okay? Am I missing something?

Thank you endless!

As it is not advisable to apply more than one year in advance, I suggest you post the intended list of documents next year. Your documents, too, would be different by next year (for example, you'd have bookings for the venue, marriage license, etc. which would help their applications).

In the meanwhile, your sister and brother can try to build stronger ties and better financials (for example, they must not depend on your dad to pay for their tickets) + build some travel history to visa-required countries (US, UK, EU, Australia, NZ, etc)

Thank you so so much. I will do update next year and will contact my brother and sister for their financials. I really appreciate your help. Thanks!
