I will try to be clear and concise. I am a Canadian citizen, living in the US and want to move to Montreal Quebec with my American husband and child. I know that I can sponsor them but what I'm more confused about is whether I should do it Inland or Outland? My husband will continue to work for his American employer so a work visa isn't an absolute necessity (although would be a nice insurance policy in case something should happen to his job). We are planning to move in May 2018. If we send in application now then, in all likelyhood we wouldn't be processed before it was time to go. We have been looking at apartments to buy with a realtor and have an idea of all that. Can we just move with our application 'in process' or would we have to wait until we were through the process? Could we move and just apply Inland? What would we declare our status to be at the border? Would I enter as a Canadian with my citizenship documents and my husband and child would enter as tourists? We really appreciate any and all help. Thanks in advance!!!

Your husband cannot "move" to Canada until PR is granted. If CBSA believes that he is not a genuine visitor, he may be refused entry. Your child may be a Canadian citizen already, so no assumptions there. You mentioned sponsoring "them", so I'm guessing possibly not.

You might be better off staying where you are and applying "outland", then moving all together once PR is granted.

Thank you!! Once we send in our application as Outlanders can we still go to Canada as visitors like we do most summers. We go to Quebec for 3 months every summer. Would having an application in process prevent us from traveling their this summer?

As far as I am aware, not a problem at all. Have a great time.

If you were born in Canada or became a naturalized Canadian before your child was born, your child is a Canadian citizen. If that is the case, you should be applying ASAP for your child's Certificate of Citizenship.
