My name is Michael I am an American citizen, I have a pregnant girlfriend who is a Canadian I work a job online and she doesn't work because she's pregnant. My paycheck alone isn't enough to rent an apartment and pay for everything. I heard there is a program called geared to income and was thinking about applying and having housing until I at least get Canadian citizenship and we having been living together for about a half a year now with her family in either a tent or trailer, after a year we were going to apply for my citizenship so I can stay on Canada and get a better job would we be a allowed to apply for housing. We also need to live in a decent area with good internet connection so I can work and be with her and stay in Canada, can anyone please tell me some options I have thank you! Also would this interfere with my application for citizenship?

since you are not a resident of canada, YOU probably won't qualify for any government assisted programs in canada. Since your gf is canadian, she may be eligible for housing programs (if any are available in her area). SHE would need to apply for herself and baby. Keep in mind, if she intends to sponsor you in the future to become a Permanent Resident (not citizen), it's not recommended she use welfare in the 12 months prior to applying, as it will most likely disqualify her from being eligible to sponsor.

I think you are treading on very thin ice trying to remain in canada and use services for residents, if you are only there as a visitor. Especially if you are not married. Keep in mind too, having a child who is a canadian citizen gives you no rights to Canadian services.

If you require housing assistance, you will need to go back to the states and apply for programs in your home state.

Application for Citizenship will be an absolute minimum of 4 years AFTER you become a Permanent Resident, so realistically at least 6 years before taking the oath. I would suggest that you do some more research...
