To anyone who is starting the sponsorship of Family class this year 2014

I have just started the application to sponsor my husband's family in South Africa. Making progress with all the forms, just wondering if anyone else out there is on the same timeline? If so....did anyone send their application in yet?

QUESTION
If part of the form is filled out electronically and part filled out later in pen, is this an issue?

You can fill out forms in pen or by computer. The only time it matters is when you need to validate a form before printing, then you should try to do it all electronically.

If you are still just reviewing forms to apply for parents sponsorship, then you most likely will not make the 5000 cap for applications this year so should be prepared to try in January 2015.

No there is no issue. As long as it is legible. Good luck with your application. The waiting is just beginning.

OH NO!! Guess I should have been more on the ball. Once they have the 5000, will they post it on the website right away?
I haven't even received my printouts revenue from CRA yet!

They will not post right away. Even if the cap is already full, CIC needs to ensure they have 5000 complete applications before they can announce the cap is full. So for example it may take them 7000 apps, if 2000 are incomplete... to get to the 5000 cap. Going through 5000+ apps takes time so it may be several months before they announce anything.

I'm just guessing though. Your guess is as good as mine as to when the cap will be full. No harm in applying and hoping you still make it. Worst case your app is returned and all it cost you was the courier fee.
