Hello Everyone,

I have a question. I have a client that wants her sister who is 17 years old to be sponsored in Family Class. Now, the sister who is 17 years old, has a child who is 2 years old. Is there any way she can sponsor both, the sister and the sister's baby?

It would be great help with everyone's feedback.

On what basis does she believe that she can sponsor EITHER of them?

She has no family back in her home country (her father passed away young and mother passed away couple of months ago) She wants to come to Canada with her child because she cant support herself there and here she can go to school and what not. She is 17 years old though with a baby

Basically, a person is allowed to sponsor siblings (and their dependents) "who are orphaned, under 18 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship."

She is under 18 and I'd guess not married or common-law and both parents are dead, so yes, she and the baby can be sponsored by her sister.

In fact, a perfect case to fit the eligibility rules.
