Family name of person being sponsored, which is which

just started filling in the app and the sponsor form is asking for her family name. so is that her maiden name or her married name which is now her family name and has been for 12 years?

i believe unless it's otherwise stated, family name is the name that the individual commonly uses... they will/do ask at various points in the form for former names (married names, maiden names ect)... that's when the other names come into play...

My understanding was that "family name" means your current legal last name. If that has been changed with marriage, you should use the present one, not the original.
