I know this is answered in here, but I got more confused than before trying to sort through the answers. I am starting the paperwork to sponsor my husband..he is Nigerian living in Brazil. I am trying to understand the requirements for listing and examining the family members..he has never been married before and has no children. He has no plans to sponsor any of his family, other than a much younger, orphaned, half-brother who may wish to come and study here at some point in the future.

Also, on the medical forms it asks which processing office is handling the file..he will be staying in Brazil and we are applying outland, so would that be Sao Paulo or Missisauga?

Thank you so much for your help!

Sponsoring a spouse includes application in 3 parts for Outland Apllications.

Part 1 - The sponsorship application (You as a sponsor will fill all the forms)
Part 2 - The application for permanent residence (Your spouse will fill all the forms)
Part 3 - The region specific forms (Latin America in your case)

You will submit all documentation / all parts mentioned above to CPC Mississauga

If your husband wants visa stamping from Brazil, then your husband will mention Sao Paulo as the Visa Office requested for the process of application in the form IMM 0008 GENERIC (Application for Permanent Residence).

After approving your sponsorship, CPC Mississauga will forward all the documentation to Canadian Embassy/high commission in Sao Paulo.

Thanks for that, it answers one of my questions, much appreciated. Hopefully someone can shed some light on the additional family listing and examination requirements, as they are really confusing?!

Read the forms again. The persons included in the application are the only ones examined. If he has no children, then he is the only one examined. His family is included on the IMM 5406 and they are not examined.

Thanks for clarifying that, just want to get everything right. :)
