I was born in Guatemala, but lived in the US illegally for the past 5 years. I rekindled a flame from my childhood with a Canadian Citizen. We fell in love and he proposed and were married in July, 2011. I continued to live in the US until about a month ago when I got my IMM1000 and now I'm in Canada with my husband. Over the past 6 months, my husband has been unfaithful with another woman (the pressures of being apart were too much I guess) and now I am faced with the posibility that he no longer wants to be with me. What can I do from here? Can I look for a job confidently that I won't be deported if he decides he no longer wants me as his wife? What can I legally do from here to try to establish myself in Canada as an independent? Can anyone help?

You're allowed to stay as long as your visitor's visa is valid. You're allowed to seek work to provide you a LMO so you can get work permit. However, LMOs are very hard to get, so don't get your hopes up unless you have good connections to get one.
Unless you're a skilled worker, there aren't many routes to stay permanently in Canada as a worker.

If your husband is in the dark, you might ask him about taking a caregiver program at your local college. They last six months, then you are allowed to work as a live-in nanny. (That is, if you think you can hold things together that long and he'd support you. You will need to pay upfront for the courses.) You don't need a study permit because it's only six months. Live-in nannies are in demand in parts of Canada, they regularly hire foreign workers, and some employers especially want Spanish speaking nannies. There is an agency that hires Spanish speaking nannies only because they're in demand (and if I remember their name, I'll tell you.)
You may have to leave Canada to get the work permit, but this is the best option I could think of. Live-in Nannies can earn PR in Canada after working two years full time.
