I am currently in Canada and have made my application for PR in the family sponsor catergory. I have been here for 6 months and have applied for an extension of my visitor visa as I am still waiting to hear about my application. The London office did ask me for more information back in December which I forwarded to them and also informed them of my intention to apply to extend my visitor visa if I had not heard back from them in time. Sadly, my father, in the UK is not well and this means I may have to return home next week so I am just wondering.

Will my return to the UK, for family emergency, in any way affect my application (ie: push it to the bottom of the pile!)? and Will I need to inform them that I am back in the UK?

It sounds like you applied outland (sent you file to Mississauga). If you applied outland, then leaving will have no impact on your application.

Yeah I and my partner applied whilst I was still in the UK, she is Canadian. So if I have to go back to the UK, will I be allowed to return when I want? especially as I will have already stayed in Canada for my full 6 months?

The chances are very high that you will be allowed back into Canada since you are visa exempt. However that decision is up to the immigration officer you encounter when you re-enter Canada.

you should be ok, however entrance to Canada is never guaranteed
